Most of Norway's typical fish species are represented in the northwest part of Fjord Norway: cod, halibut, saithe, ling, tusk, Atlantic pollock, redfish, haddock, wolffish and whiting. In the summer, you can add mackerel to the list.
The long coastline offers numerous possibilities for everyone who is tempted to venture out to sea. It is also worth trying your fishing luck in the fjords. For example, you have great chances to get saithe on the hook in the Romsdalsfjorden, which happens to be one of the most biologically diverse fjords in the country.
Or join the locals who line up with their fishing rods on the bridges along the Atlantic Road, which is one of Norway’s national tourist routes. It is a great way to enjoy the dramatic encounter between nature and architecture that the Atlanterhavsvegen has to offer.
