Åmotdalshytta is located on the banks of Åmotdalsvatnet just northwest of Snøhetta. Lots of daytrips in amazing terrain in all directions. To the east lies Snøheim and Reinheim, north you find Dindalshytta, Loennechenbua and Gammelsetra cabins while Grøvudalshytta cabin is located to the northwest. There is also a marked route from Skamsdalen valley in the south and Snøheimvegen road east of Snøhetta.
The lodge was first built in 1922 as a small stone. A larger cabin was built in 1953 (renovated in 1980), and are linked to the stone cottage with a hallway. Emergency hut built in 1983.
