Ørnehaugen is one of the most visited hiking destinations on Aukra. At the top of Ørnehaugen there is a great view of the Ormen Lange facility at Nyhavna. There is also a nice view towards Bud and Bjørnsund and there are several information boards on the trip that one should take the time to read.
Route description: From the ferry on Hollingsholmen, follow the signs to Nyhavna. When you get to the Ormen Lange facility, park on the opposite side of the Shell administration building. Walk past Shell's administration building on the right side until you reach an information board and tractor road. Follow the tractor road to some tables and benches, and then the path on to Ørnehaugen. The tour takes approx. 1 hour.
Bonus trip to Aukrabolten: If you want to take a detour on the trip, you can stop by Aukrabolten. Just before the last hill up to Ørnehaugen, turn right. Go straight ahead and stay to the left you will find the stone down by the sea in a gorge. There is no sign or clear path and it is a bit rough where the stone is.
