You may have heard of the Romsdalseggen ridge? A challenging and at times exposed hike with a majestic view.
One of Norways most popular hikes. From the ridge you can see the Rauma river winding its way through the Romsdalen valley and into the Romsdalen fjord. Lifting your gaze, you will see some of Norway’s most spectacular mountains: Romsdalshorn, Vengetidene and Trollveggen. Amazing!
The hike in itself is unique, but we would like to make it even more special – creating memories imprinted on your heart forever.
Area: Romsdalen Type: hike with a night in a hammock
Level: Advanced Length: 1320 vertical m. / 13.5 km
Meeting point: Hotel Aak Start time: 5 PM
Description
The hike begins in the afternoon up from Isfjorden. After a short hike up from the valley floor, we will set up camp – hanging our hammocks between the spruce trees and enjoying a three-course dinner while watching the sun set behind the fjord and mountains. Rising early the next morning, we have the entire Romsdalseggen ridge to ourselves. If the skies are clear, we will see the sun rise from behind the peak of Vengetind as we start hiking. On our way down to from Nesaksla to Åndalsnes, we follow the stone steps of Romsdalstrappa – the “Romsdal Stairway” – passing Rampestreken, the famous viewpoint with a panorama view of Romsdalen. To finish off the adventure, we return to Hotel Aak, where we enjoy an “After Hike Snack” and perhaps a quick dip in the icy-cold river and a hot sauna.
