Trollrunden roundtrip

Overview

A nice hike for the whole family! Children can look for big and small troll statues along the path. You will mostly be walking through the forest but will occasionally come across small clearings with a more open view.

Route description
The hike starts at the cattle grid next to the small car park. Walk up the paved road (southwest) and then turn off to the right (after about 400 m) and continue walking up a forest road marked “Trollrunda” (The Troll’s Loop). The first part of the trail goes mostly uphill, with some occasional flatter sections. The forest road soon splits in two, and you need to turn right and continue northeast. Follow the forest road until it ends, then continue onto a path where the fun part begins! You can now start looking for, and counting, all the big and small trolls that are lurking along the path on the way to the mailbox and the Troll Bridge. Cross the Troll Bridge and continue following the path on the other side of the river until you reach another forest road. Take another right turn and walk down until you reach the residential area and the paved road. Follow the road back to the car park.

Arrival and parking
If you are coming from Vestnes, drive towards Tomrefjord and then continue until you come to Fiksdal. Drive to the town centre, where you will see the sign to Vatne. Turn left and continue straight ahead through the village until you reach the cattle grid. If you are coming from Sunnmøre, drive through the village of Vatne to Nakkedalen in the direction of Fiksdal. When you reach the top of Nakkereset, drive down to Fiksdal and stop just before the cattle grid, where you can park your car.
